CHRIS

The first photos I took of Chris were at The Depot Open Mic. He was dressed in a green full body suit and had a puppet that he used for his act. I didn’t even know what he looked like as his face and body were completely covered. Weeks and months later, we continued to bump into each other at musical events. I remember mentioning this incredible co-writing music event called Collaboration Laboratory. He became a regular there along with many of my musician friends.

When it came time to pursue folks who might pose for the TATT2U series, Chris was an obvious choice. He has an incredibly fun Instagram with wild images. He is unafraid of the lens and being on display.

Music is a common theme both in his life and with his tattoos. He had the idea of using the Dance Dance Revolution arcade game in Peabody Brewery’s back room Dugout Arcade. I had been to Peabody dozens of times and had no idea this massive arcade was tucked away in the back.

I brought lights and we plotted poses that would highlight the ink on his upper right thigh. After 30-minutes of fun poses using my lighting, I realized the lights were overpowering the background of the arcade lights. So, we turned them off and made use of the space’s overhead lights and the glow from the arcade machines.
