DEVON

What began as a dog park friendship with Devon, turned into a connection through art, music, and community. Devon also gave me my 4th tattoo that fused his artistic patterned style with my love of photography.

We didn’t initially plot his photo session. He was in my studio to pose for my intern who was capturing Devon’s latest art project. After they finished, I stole a few moments to grab some potential TATT2U shots. As you can see, he's covered in ink. Up close the tattoos are very detailed.

In my experience, not many folks have their hands and feet covered with tattoos, so I wanted to emphasize that unique artistry. Since he brought one of his many instruments, it seemed like a perfect way to capture his musicality along with the detailed patterns on his skin. I went back and forth quite a bit on which image to choose. All of the other images in the TATT2U collection show a majority of the models’ body and face. For this one, I decided it would work to just focus tightly on his hands and feet.
