Every Tuesday night at The Depot in Baltimore there is an open mic competition. My first time going, I brought my digital full frame Sony A7iii camera along with two lenses (24-70mm 2.8 and 85mm 1.4). I didn't know what the talent level would be or the lighting...but I came with a desire to capture what I could. And though I caught some great talent and some pretty sweet pics of those performing, my favorite shot of the night was at the farthest end of the bar away from the music. This performer was prepping his guitar, tuning as best he could within ear shot of the loud speakers. The warm light from the bar area was in stark contrast to the stage lighting less than a hundred feet away. I snuck in a few shots of this artist which gave me soft warm vibes of someone in love with their instrument.
See below for a pic of the bar area and a few other action shots on the stage.
